The Jacobite Rebellion, 11th November 1745 After the false hope that the Jacobite army had left Carlisle on the 10th November, the next day they returned. The Siege of Carlisle 1745 had started. The Jacobites started digging trenches outside of the city, they have also brought 13 cannons with them. The defenders of Carlisle were outnumbered by the Jacobite army.
