Jan 6, 2025 · The Montpelier cannot be used solely to heat the house. It merely supplements the home. With the geo running and thermostat set to 68 and the Montpelier running hot we stay at 68. If chit the geo off the temps start dropping inside the house by using the Montpelier only. We have 3 year old dry seasoned wood. Tested with a moisture meter.

Jan 11, 2008 · After a few revisions Heat & Glo (and Quad) have really nailed down the cold air infiltration issues with the unit itself. Unfortunately the fireplace often gets blamed because it is place the air gets into the house, even if its the house that's leaking. Not having insulation back there is like hacing a window in your house open 24/7.

Aug 2, 2012 · Out of the blue woman said house smelled of smoke, told her to put it in off position on stove. Came home, cleaned the stove again completely. (Fines box/Igniterbox/Flue sweep/Fan) Found nothing unusual, did a smoke test with lights off with a flash light, found no issues. 3 days later same issue, but I was home this time.

If there are any leaks from the point where the pipe connects to the stove to after it leaves the house, that can give a smoke smell because it's under positive pressure. Leaks in the exhaust can smell, but not be seen once the fire is fully hot since there should be almost no smoke from the fire one it's going.
