Boxer Julio César Chávez Jr. has been deported to Mexico, where he's wanted for alleged cartel ties, following his arrest in the U.S. for overstaying his visa and lying on a green card application.

Former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr has been jailed in his native Mexico after his arrest in the United States in July.

Mexican prosecutors allege he acted as a henchman for the Sinaloa Cartel, which Washington designated a foreign terrorist organization earlier this year.
