Once again, the Boston Celtics watched a second-half double-digit lead go to waste, falling to the New York Knicks in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semifinals by a 121-113 score. Boston now falls behind 3-1 in the series and is one loss away from being eliminated.

With Mitchell Robinson shooting an abysmal 30% (7-of-23) from the free throw line during the Eastern Conference semifinals, Celtics head coach Mazzulla sees no reason to adjust his Hack-A-Mitch strategy that’s been going for the first three games of the series.

For a change, Sixth Man of the Year Payton Pritchard led all scorers with 23 off the bench while making 5-10 3-point baskets. Jayson Tatum also had a big game with 22 points on 5-9 three-point shooting. The Celtics finished the game hitting 20 out of their 40 3-point attempts, or a 50 percent accuracy.

Joe Mazzulla probably isn’t coaching for his job in this series. But he may be coaching the deepest version of this Celtics roster he’ll ever have. That’s according to Brian Robb of MassLive, who wrote in a recent mailbag that Mazzulla’s job is “likely safe” no matter how Boston fares against the Knicks.
