Two of those tough decisions became official Saturday: Max Scherzer and Chris Bassitt have been left off the ALDS roster. Scherzer, one of the greatest pitchers of this generation, would've brought veteran experience and moxie to the matchup with the Yanks.
Scherzer is 1-3 with a 9.00 ERA in his last six starts, including a Sept. 7 loss to the Yankees as New York took advantage of the 41-year-old right-hander tipping pitches.
