The Lightning played their best first-round playoff hockey against Florida in Saturday’s Game 3 win without Brandon Hagel. The forward was serving a one-game suspension for his Game 2 interference hit on Florida’s Aleksander Barkov.

Hagel introduced himself to anyone not already paying attention during the 4 Nations Face-Off in February, where he fired both punches and verbal challenges for Canada, fighting Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk in the first United States-Canada showdown and announcing his team was playing “for a flag, not the cameras,” in a shot at the U.S.

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brandon Hagel received a one-game suspension from the NHL on Friday, a day after hit injured Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov. Hagel received a five-minute interference penalty after laying out Barkov away from the puck at the 9:51 mark of the third period on Thursday night in Tampa.
