The list of players ruled out before the game between the United States and Sweden on Monday was a who’s who of the U.S. roster: Auston Matthews, Matthew Tkachuk, Charlie McAvoy, each of the members of the team’s leadership group.

Brady Tkachuk played four games in the tournament, scoring three goals. He had two goals against Finland in a 6-1 win. He scored again in the final, a 3-2 overtime loss to Canada. He finished with a +3 rating and took 15 shots.

Auston Matthews, Team USA's No. 1 center and captain who had some upper body soreness after the win over Canada game on Saturday, joined star forward Matthew Tkachuk and did not play in Monday's 4 Nations Face-Off game against Sweden at TD Garden.

Not only did Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk leave the club’s 2-1 loss to Team Sweden on Monday night, but the U.S. already was without Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews, Florida Panthers alternate captain Matthew Tkachuk and defenceman Charlie McAvoy.
