FOX Weather on MSNFlorida's weeklong washout continues to fuel flood threat
Florida's forecast this week is rain and more rain as plenty of tropical moisture keeps storms over the Sunshine State every afternoon and evening, creating the potential for flooding.
Rain and storm chances remain elevated Wednesday in Central Florida. A persistent weather front is bringing more rain to our area, and slow-moving showers are raising concerns of localized flooding. The same stubborn front that has been affecting the region for the past few days continues to elevate rain chances.
Facing intense vulnerability to sea-level rise, Miami is in the midst of a long-term effort to harden neighborhoods and infrastructure against flooding. The city is issuing $400 million in debt — known as Miami Forever Bonds — to finance climate adaptation and other projects. The plan relies on property taxes to repay the bonds.
Dry weather will be hard to come by across much of Florida this week, as a nearby storm system fuels repeated rounds of heavy downpours and strong thunderstorms. Flash flooding is a key concern, meteorologists say.
