The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a long-term contract extension with catcher/first baseman Samuel Basallo, according to Andy Kostka of the Baltimore Banner. Basallo's pact will cover eight years and guarantee him $67 million.

But that never got the chance to happen. The Yankees signed Cole, and the Orioles wound up with Basallo. It could be a key component to the next decade of play in the American League East.
