Sunderland have completed the signing of Granit Xhaka from Bayer Leverkusen. The Athletic reported on Monday that Sunderland had agreed a fee worth up to €20million (£13.4m; $23.3m) with Leverkusen, who had previously been told by the midfielder that he only wants to join the Premier League club.

Following the arrival of Granit Xhaka, Sunderland are about to make official the signing of 22-year-old goalkeeper Robin Roefs from Eredivisie side NEC.
