CHICAGO -- Andre Burakovsky scored the go-ahead goal on the power play at 8:55 of the third period to help the Chicago Blackhawks win their first game of the season, 3-1 against the Utah Mammoth at United Center on Monday. It was the first victory for first-year Chicago head coach Jeff Blashill.

CHICAGO - For the first time this season, the Chicago Blackhawks have won a hockey game that counts. They defeated the Utah Mammoth at the United Center by a final score of 3-1.

CHICAGO - Despite a solid effort defensively and a 23-14 shot advantage, the Utah Mammoth came up short and fell 3-1 to the Chicago Blackhawks. JJ Peterka’s third period goal was the only time Utah found the back of the net.

The United Center went dark for about four seconds of real time late in the opening period. The outage occurred with 5:57 remaining in the first period, as Chicago forward Jason Dickinson gained control of the puck in his team’s zone. Play was whistled dead at 5:56, but it resumed once the lights were restored.

The Utah Mammoth (1-1-0) closes out a season-opening three-game road trip on Monday night when they take on the winless Chicago Blackhawks (0-2-1) at the United Center.
