Among those caught up in the web of illegal gambling allegations are Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups and Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier.
Damon Jones, who played for the Houston Cougars in the 90s, was among those named in an alleged illegal sports betting scheme using private insider NBA information.
Authorities said the "mind-boggling" fraud involved tens of millions of dollars and included members of organised crime.
