Terminal 5 at Los Angeles International Airport has begun a phased closure to make way for demolition and reconstruction ahead of the 2028 Olympics. JetBlue has moved its LAX operations to Terminal 1, and on Oct. 22 Spirit will move out of Terminal 5 and into Terminal 2. American will transition its to Terminal 4 on Oct. 28.

The FAA issued a temporary ground stop at one of the world's busiest airports soon after U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy predicted that travelers would see more flights delayed and canceled in the coming days as the nation's air traffic controllers work without pay during the federal government shutdown.
