49ers worst fear realized with first-round pick’s injury update
The San Francisco 49ers have now had three key players suffer season-ending injuries in their defensive front after Mykel Williams tore his ACL.
“Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed Monday that defensive lineman Nick Bosa suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during Sunday's win over the Arizona Cardinals. Bosa will undergo season-ending surgery,” 49ers.com’s Briana Jeannel wrote.
While there's no hope for Bosa playing again this season, general manager John Lynch on Thursday did have an update on the DE's progress when he joined KNBR in San Francisco. Bosa is set to have surgery Friday ahead of the 49ers' Week 4 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In 2022, the four-time Pro Bowler recorded 15 sacks with the New England Patriots. At 33 years old, Judon could provide a spark to the 49ers' struggling pass rush. San Francisco wouldn't be tied to him in the long term either. This offseason, he signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the Dolphins, making him a cheap and temporary option.
The San Francisco 49ers picked up a big win in Week 9, and now the team is in prime position to buy at the trade deadline.
