In Perkins' last eighth-grade football game, his arm saved Havenview's middle school championship game. The team rallied from a 24-point deficit but needed a Hail Mary to win the game.

Perkins completed 147-of-242 passes for 2,860 yards and 46 touchdowns with just two interceptions this season. He also rushed for 583 yards and 11 TDs. That includes the playoffs.

It was a trailer for a movie of a 13-1 season in 2023 in which Perkins won the 5A Mr. Football award as a sophomore, throwing for 2,860 yards and 46 TDs.
