Iowa has won back-to-back games after handling the Penn State Nittany Lions 25-24 last week, but failing to cover as a 3-point home favorite with the Over (41.5) hitting. QB Mark Gronowski threw for just 68 yards and an INT, but had 9 carries for a career-high 130 yards and 2 TDs. The Hawkeyes rushed for 245 yards and 3 TDs in the narrow victory.

Mark Gronowski didn’t throw for a ton of yards, but he made Penn State pay on the ground. The Iowa quarterback rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns, single-handedly setting up the Hawkeyes’ final score with a 67-yard scamper down the sideline. Kamari Moulton also chipped in on the ground with 99 yards on 17 carries.

C: Penn State nearly won on the road in Terry Smith’s first game as interim coach and Grunkemeyer’s first start. Andy Kotelnicki’s call on fourth-and-1 from the Lions’ 40 late in the third quarter was odd and was stopped. And it’s inexplicable that Jim Knowles’ defense allowed two big QB runs, which set up touchdowns.
