Three studs from Lakers' preseason game versus Warriors on Sunday
Three players stood out in a positive way from the Lakers' second preseason game on Sunday versus the Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors unofficially opened their 2025-26 campaign on Sunday, when they beat the Los Angeles Lakers, 111-103, in their first preseason game.
Coach Steve Kerr expressed a desire to work on his team’s alignment in half court and isolation sets, which will feature more five-out looks this season with the addition of sharpshooting center Al Horford, who has developed instant chemistry with his teammates.
Fans immediately connected a few dots of their own, pointing to Jonathan Kuminga — the NBA’s current poster child for length and athleticism — who just concluded an exhausting free agency marathon with the Warriors where Kuminga (and even more so his agent) overvalued his worth.
Even though Jonathan Kuminga is officially under contract to the Golden State Warriors after a long offseason stalemate, the rumors about his future aren't going to stop anytime soon.
Kuminga played 14:44 minutes, scoring six points, grabbing six rebounds and dishing out four assists while blocking a shot. His first stint – which came after an ovation from the Chase Center crowd and a long wait at the scorer’s table – saw him play with Pat Spencer, Gary Payton II, Buddy Hield and Al Horford.
After a second-round playoff exit, the Warriors aim to make another run behind a couple of key offseason roster additions orchestrated.
