Rio Ferdinand has called for patience with Arsenal ’s new signing, Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish striker, who joined from Sporting CP in a £64million deal, was handed a start in Arsenal’s Premier League opener at Old Trafford.

The World Cup winner, who played in the Premier League with Chelsea, even compared Gyokeres to Manchester United flop Rasmus Hojlund. Hojlund was left out of Ruben Amorim’s matchday squad on Sunday and the United boss is hoping to offload him before the transfer window closes.

Viktor Gyokeres failed to find the net against Manchester United in his Arsenal debut and his ability to record a shot oon goal has left some onlookers concerned over his prospects
