A Texas House member from Fort Worth prepares to spend another night inside the Capitol in a political showdown over the rules established by the state legislature. Rep. Nicole Collier, who represents District 95 in East Fort Worth,

GOP leadership required Democrats to consent to a police escort in order to leave the building. Collier chose to stay instead.

The standoff began on Monday, when Democratic members returned to the Capitol after being out of the state for more than two weeks due to a controversial redistricting map. Rep. Collier refused to agree to leave the chamber under the surveillance of the Department of Public Safety.
