Hurricane Erin is expected to bring large ocean swells and life-threatening rip currents to North Carolina's coast. Coastal flooding, river rise and road washout are also possible. Waves could reach between 20 to 25 feet high.

Chris Petersen is reporting from the North Carolina coast early Thursday. There have been reports of over wash causing road closures and emergency management is worried it could strand residents who did not evacuate. Hurricane Erin's impacts are being felt on the coast and the conditions are expected to remain rough for the remainder of Thursday.
