Where to stay? Starting in Minneapolis- have three/four days to make it up or down the north shore. Will fly out of Minneapolis

We stayed in Duluth, and made two runs up. But having been there many times we knew exactly what we wanted to see, and didn't go all the way to Canada.

I’ve lived in MN my entire life. Mosquitos are bad every year, all summer long. So I wouldn’t plan your vacation around when they may be better or worse. It all comes down to preparation. Lots of bug repellant on yourself and the area around you (if you plan on sitting outside for awhile). It cools off quite a bit in the evenings along the North Shore so pants and long sleeves will help the bug situation as well.

We will be driving from Missouri do it's still pretty warm in September, early October. What about North Shore drive, Duluth area weather wise for end of September/early October. Will we need hats? Rains a lot?! Thank you

Simple Google search should help. Try weatherspark. Short answer is OCT starts at 60 and ends at 45 for the monthly average. Not much rain. Enjoy!

As you go out of town traveling North of Duluth. As stated above, it hwy. 61, be aware parts of the hwy is closed and they will detour you to the freeway.
